First, congratulations to Patricia Woodside, the winner of my November contest. Patricia will receive a copy of Gary Smalley’s book Making Love Last Forever.
And it’s time to announce my December contest. This month I’m giving away a combo prize to kick-start
your romance in 2008:
- A perpetual calendar titled 365 Best Kept Marriage Secrets to encourage you every day of the year.
- A $10 gift card to Cold Stone Creamery (or your choice of a national ice cream or specialty coffee chain in your area) so you can snuggle up with your sweetie while you indulge your sweet tooth.
To enter, mention your favorite ice cream flavor when you comment on any December post (one entry per person, and you must log in with a valid e-mail address). I’ll also provide a few random opportunities to win additional entries, so be watching!
December is a busy month as we prepare for Christmas, but I still have some guest bloggers lined up. Don’t forget, my very special guest Margie Lawson will be back next Friday with more romance and communication advice.
Until then, what’s your favorite way to stay connected with your spouse during the hectic holiday season?
My favorite ice cream is plain old homemade vanilla. Why spoil the yummy, custardy taste with flavors???
To stay connected with my hubby during the holidays, I make him go Christmas shopping with me. After all, he makes all the money--shouldn't he see where it goes? To make it up to him, I'll make a few of his favorite once-a-year treats: peppernuts, homemade summer sausage, and this year I'm trying out a new recipe. Peanut butter/chocolate dipped Bugles! It just sounds too weird, so I have to try it.

I love ice cream! Any flavor, but my favorites have candy stuff in them, usually chocolate. This time of year I love love love chocolate peppermint.
To stay connected with MY honey, we like to run away for dinner, somewhere festive and homey. I know it isn't my mom's current favorite, but I just love dinner during the holidays alone with my honey at Cracker Barrel!!!

My last Cracker Barrel experience wasn't so bad. I had chicken and dumplings. Not exactly healthy, but oh-so-comforting.
And one of my favorite ice cream flavors is Cold Stone's Coffee Lovers!

OHHHH i love ice cream!! and frozen custard...My favorite ice cream would probably have to be mint chocolate chip then pistacio almond...my favorite custard is a Shakey's Mini bopper.
to stay connected.... hmmmm alan and I spend most of our "dates" at baskin robbins or shakeys. we also take some time to go thru neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights. We put up the tree together. We watched Rudolph the red nosed reindeer allready this season. He helps me put together the goodie bags for all the people at his work. we even work on the christmas cards together. he's such a good sport when it comes to all the hulla-balloo.

I love strawberry ice cream! ... really, almost any flavor will make me totally happy though! ;)
A way that the hubby and I stay connected is to go on dates. This was much easier before the recent birth of our 1st baby, but we're trying now to make a point to let the grandparents babysit so we can get out and just reconnect even if its just taking a stroll.

What a wonderful inspiring contest.
My favorite is double dark chocolate with strawberries from Marble Slab. When I was pregnant with our first child one night after Lamaze my husband took me to my first Marble Slab. It became tradition. Every week after that until our daughter was born, we went.
We continued the tradition as a family. When I was pregnant with our second, we weren't close to a Marble Slab, but once a month my husband would make the trip to one and bring me home a pint of DDC with strawberries. So it's not only my mouth's favorite, it's my heart's favorite, too.

Myra,
We're retired, so we have no problem staying connected. On the contrary, there are times Kay sends me off to my office to write so she can get something done.
As for ice cream, German chocolate from Braum's wins hands down.
Have a great Christmas. We miss you all back here in Texas.

I'm a newly wed. This is my first Christmas married. I'm so excited! My husband and I are already talking about what traditions we will start for the family God will give us to carry on throughtout our lives. We are so in love. I hope I win! Merry Christmas!

Our anniversary is Dec. 31. so we try to take some time during the holidays just for ourselves. We might go to the flea market, browse around a fav store, go out to eat or just cruise around and talk. To me that is the perfect present and a wonderful tradition.
My fav ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip!

My favorite Ice Cream is vanilla with unsweetened cocoa power.
Ice cream is a very important element in my marriage ;o) Well, at least, it was a very important part of our courtship.
