Several years ago, I was so upset with my personal life that I told God if He ever wanted a man in my life again, He’d have to put him at my front door wearing a T-shirt that said so.
For the next three years, I went about my life, raising my sons and working long hours. Actually, I forgot that outburst to God.
A man from church, who played piano for the youth choir, took an interest in my sons. Dean attended their school functions, helped them with their homework, and often took them places that I couldn’t afford. I appreciated his generosity, and we became friends.
Others teased me about Dean, saying my sons were not the only reason he spent so much time at my home. I ignored them, denying any romantic notions. After all, Dean was twelve years younger and definitely not my type.
One fall day, the doorbell rang, and I hurried to answer it. My “friend” stood in the doorway wearing a T-shirt that said “God Listens.” Suddenly I was reminded of the statement made three years before. Heat rushed into my face.
No, Lord. Not him. He’s too young and too serious. You must have made a mistake.
“Do you like my shirt?” Dean asked. “I liked it so much that I brought one for you and each of the boys.”
I wanted to crawl under a rock.
Two months later, he proposed and I accepted. I never had any idea that Dean was in love with me. Neither did I have any idea that God had taken me seriously. Dean and I have been married fourteen years, and every day is better than the day before.
So, I caution you. Be careful what you pray for because God Listens!

Hi Diann,
I love your stories and had much the same experience you did! When my next door neighbor came to borrow a can opener, he had on a t-shirt that had John 3:16 on it. I had just gotten out of a relationship with a non-believer and told God He'd have to send me a guy that was blatant about his faith.
I married this boy next door two years later!
Cool how God does stuff like that, huh?
Thanks for sharing,
Lynette

This is such a sweet message I had to cut and paste and send it to my sister.
Her husband left her 28 years ago. He died about five years ago. She has a man interested in her but she is so afraid to love again. And he's short. She's 5 ft 7 and . . .
So I sent your post and told her I love her.

I just reread your profile. I see you ride harleys. LOL that's the name of my sister's friend. I wish I had cut and pasted that part.

Oh, dear you don't ride Harleys. See, I am much too impulsive. Will I ever learn?
