My friend and writing colleague Mary Connealy pointed me to this online right brain/left brain quiz. Her
analysis is even more entertaining than her actual results! Anyway, always curious about anything that might offer insight into my warped personality, I had to give it a try. Here’s what it came up with:
Your left-hemisphere dominance implies that your learning style is organized and structured, detail oriented and logical. Your visual preference, though, has you seeking stimulation and multiple data. Such an outlook can overwhelm structure and logic and create an almost continuous state of uncertainty and agitation. You may well suffer a feeling of continually trying to "catch up" with yourself. Yup, “overwhelmed” is often the story of my life.
Your tendency to be organized and logical and attend to details is reasonably well-established which should afford you success regardless of your chosen field of endeavor. You can "size up" situations and take in information rapidly. However, you must then subject that data to being classified and organized which causes you to "lose touch" with the immediacy of the problem. Also very true. I am a quick study, as long as the process is logical and straightforward. I’m also somewhat of an intuitive learner. Get me started and I can usually take it from there.
You remain predominantly functional in your orientation and practical. Abstraction and theory are secondary to application. In keeping with this, you focus on details until they manifest themselves in a unique pattern and only then work with the "larger whole." I think somehow this might apply to being a “seat of the pants” writer rather than a plotter.
With regards to your career choices, you have a mentality that would be good as a scientist, coach, athlete, design consultant, or an engineering technician. You can "see where you want to go" and even be able to "tell yourself," but find that you are "fighting yourself" at the darndest times. Athlete???? Um, did this test not reveal that I hate anything remotely connected with working up a sweat? As for engineering, the very thought gives me the heebie-jeebies! However, fighting myself . . . yes, I think even my family and friends would give that one a nod.

Myra, your link to the test isn't working as there is a space after the html in your code. Get rid of that space, and it works.
Thanks for the link. I'm blogging about it too.

Thanks, Robin. Should have tested it first. I think it's working now.

You remain predominantly functional
OKAY SCARY!!!!
I MEAN WHAT IS THE FLIP SIDE???
You remain predominantly dis-functional?
I've gotta go back and check and see if that's what I got.
Mine had a lot of big words in it.
Yes, my comprehension skills and vocabulary are excellent, but I suspect that they HOPED I wouldn't know the awful things they were saying about me. The jerks.

Well, Mary, I think it means at least 51% of the time I function okay. But that leaves me 49% dysfunctional. No surprise there!
Oh, and Carla, you better get on back here! Your soul sistah misses you!
