About Me

I've been pursuing a freelance writing career since 1983, with multiple magazine sales. My first published novel will be released in July 2009 by Abingdon Press.

My love for the written word began at an early age. Almost from the time I could wield a pencil, I composed short stories, poetry, and novels for my own enjoyment and to share with friends where I grew up in a small Texas town in the Rio Grande Valley. The love of writing persisted, and in 1983 I felt drawn to try my hand at writing professionally. My writing career was launched in 1985 with the acceptance of my first short story, which appeared in the Christian publication Alive! for Young Teens.

A lifelong Texan, I'm still adjusting to NOT living in Texas for only the second time in my life (and the first time was only for 8 months). My husband and I are members of a warm and friendly Lutheran congregation in our new hometown.
